Evidence. a New state of art

Time, history, memory, the past, the present and future perspectives have always represented a chronological space fundamental for tracing or tracing the paths of art, to construct the trajectories and implications of the contemporary art system. The time of life, of thought, of visions, weaves the plot of 1948 - 2018. Eighteen Italian artists, an exhibition that aims to represent a concentrated and significant mapping of current art in Italy.

This chronicle is, to put it with Nancy, "kaosmos: the continuous birth, the agitation, the restlessness, the pain and the joy, the visceral unconsciousness, the desire, the touch of the open, the enjoyment that is at the heart of the dialectics of a diastole without systole, of an opening without closure ". And here lies the true sense of 1948 - 2018. Eighteen Italian artists, in this incessant knowledge that artists, from the Fifties to today, continue to investigate with the research, with the analysis, with the closing of the finished in the infinite , with the will to investigate the space of the work to build structures of meaning and appearance, sometimes real and sometimes imaginative surfaces of a narration always attentive to the forms of time.
Nino Migliori, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giulio Paolini, Mimmo Paladino, Luigi Mainolfi, Marisa Albanese, Eugenio Giliberti, Pierluigi Pusole, Botto & Bruno, Alberto Di Fabio, Adrian Tranquilli, Paolo Grassino, Marzia Miglior, Perino & Vele, Giuseppe Stampone, Domenico Antonio Mancini, Elisa Strinna, Fabrizio Cotognini, represent fundamental figures for a phenomenological approach to the study of time, place, and the identity of Italian contemporary art. To analyze these eighteen realities means to build a concentrated chronograph of art today, in our country, but above all to reflect on the question of the languages and the theoretical and physical structures of the work of art. Thus, from relationality to lyricism, from matter to performance, from fluidity to resilience, the exhibition testifies to the variety of existing experiments and describes the terminology of current societies and cultures, an expression of the different languages of the most advanced contemporary art.
The exhibition presents itself as an evident trace of a production of forms that offer a possibility of different worlds, of visions, a constellation of artists who, in a period of time that has passed through the middle of the last century up to today, tell us intentions, reflections, totally singular experiments. This is precisely the strength of this exhibition, the construction of a story, a synthetic but effective narration of contemporary Italian art, through different generations compared. A story in which various languages, techniques, signs and symbols intertwine, a story in which drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, represent a complex sample that reproduces a multiform and heterogeneous universe of the experiences of the current art of our nation.

The eighteen works on show outline a space, Panofsky taught us, of "discovery and interpretation of symbolic values", the place where to meet the "history of Italian cultural symptoms". Seventy years of experience that investigate the processes, developments, cultural, social, political, which have driven artists of different generations to think about their present, and that constitute the viaticum around which we want to reflect today on past events, present and future to configure and interpret the states of art from the last decades of the last century to the new millennium.
